Elke Wells is a Landscape Architect and uses her extra time to work on art projects primarily working with paper/mixed media. Every once in a while, she will work on an acrylic or oil painting, but her first love is paper.
As far back as she can remember, she has liked puzzles, figuring out how things work, and creating things. Art allows Elke to make and solve her own puzzles. Whether it's trying to convey depth and texture in an oil painting or making a piece out of paper/mixed media - there is always a problem that needs a creative solution. Every piece has its challenges and rewards and that is what keeps it interesting.
Elke recently took the step of renting a space in which to create art at ARTSPaCE workshop + gallery in downtown Eagle, Colorado. It has been wonderful to make a total mess and walk away from it. All the paper, scissors and glue can just sit there until she returns.
Elke is also on the board for EagleARTS which is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Eagle, Colorado through the development of arts and culture. She helps to maintain/update the website, create events on the website, and posts for social media.
Brian works in the landscape construction industry. He attended the Colorado Institute of Art in the late 80s. Since then, he has produced artwork on and off. During COVID, Brian created a lot of acrylic pours. He still produces art, during the winter months, in the off-season. He also likes to take photographs while out 4-wheeling and driving to and from work.
Brian likes creating acrylic pours because he doesn't know what it will look like until it is finished. Being partially color blind is also a challenge as he is not sure the colors contrast or go together after they mix. Brian never knows what image will appear, if any, but he likes that individuals see different things when looking at one of his paintings.
